WHEN THREATS RISE, FAITH STANDS: THE POWER OF OBEDIENCE.
There are moments in life when fear tries to take center stage—when words spoken in anger or pain shake the very foundation of a family. Recently, my family faced such a moment. A message filled with threats came from someone close to us, someone hurting deeply and acting out of that pain. It would have been easy to respond with panic, anger, or retaliation. Instead, my father chose a different path: he told us to pray.
At first, that response felt almost too simple for something so serious. But in prayer, something powerful happened—clarity replaced confusion, and fear gave way to faith.
I was reminded of the story of Elijah. When threatened by Jezebel, Elijah ran—not out of defeat, but as part of his journey of obedience. In the wilderness, God did not abandon him. Instead, He provided water from a brook, food in a time of lack, and direction when Elijah needed it most. Even when danger surrounded him, Elijah’s safety was not in his own strength but in his alignment with God’s will.
This is where the deeper lesson lies: obedience to God is not passive—it is powerful. Obedience positions us under God’s covering. It leads us to the right places, at the right time, with the provision we need. Elijah obeyed, even when it didn’t make sense, and that obedience became the pathway to his protection and survival.
God also brought to mind Job 1:7, where the enemy describes himself as roaming the earth, restless and without a place. This paints a picture of instability, wandering, and lack of peace. It helped me understand something deeper: when people are disconnected from God, their lives often reflect that same restlessness. Pain, displacement, and confusion can manifest outwardly in destructive ways.
This realization shifted my perspective. Instead of seeing only the threat, I began to see the brokenness behind it. And instead of responding with fear, my heart leaned toward prayer—not just for protection, but for restoration.
Obedience also means choosing how we respond. It means refusing to be pulled into fear, revenge, or hatred. It means trusting that God’s way is higher, even when emotions run high. It means standing firm in faith when everything around us feels uncertain.
Finally, the words of Joshua 24:15 became an anchor for my spirit: “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
This is more than a declaration—it is a decision. A decision to walk in obedience daily. A decision to trust that God’s protection is not random, but connected to our willingness to follow Him. A decision to believe that no matter what threats arise, God is still greater.
My family may not control the actions of others, but we can control where we stand. And we choose to stand with God. We choose obedience. We choose faith over fear.
So in times when fear knocks loudly at your door, remember this: you are not called to be ruled by fear, but to be led by faith. Stay aligned. Stay obedient. Stay grounded in truth.
Because when you walk in obedience to God, you walk under His protection—and no threat has the final word.
